A simple script to turn an LED on and off when a button was pressed was sufficient. Throughout the whole process I found it useful to have a test script running on the Arduino to be sure that I had everything soldered properly and that things were working as expected. A common +ve that connected to the +5v on the Arduino, a common ground that connected to the ground on the Arduino and then a connection for each of the switches that connected to a digital input pin on the Arduino (for what it's worth I ended up using pins 2-5 for these). I also attached a 220k pull-up resistor to each of the positive terminals and connecting wires to the ground and sensor terminals. I removed 4 of these switches and soldered them onto some small pieces of stripboard. Pressing down on one of the pedals would push on one of these switches. It consisted of a single PCB with 7 switches, some LEDs and a bunch of supporting components. In particular I was keen that the pedals felt like 'proper' guitar pedal footswitches and I liked the ones on the Tonelab so I wanted to make sure I could resuse those.Īfter taking the pedal to bits, it turned out that this was really what I was after. Since ripping stuff to bits is generally easier than putting stuff together, pilaging the existing pedal for useful components seemed like a suitably cavaliar place to start. Take the bits I wanted from the old pedal and wire them up the Arduino. After many nights of getting trodden on, kicked about and having pints spilled on it, it finally decided it had had enough and refused to power on any more. In my shed I had an old Vox Tonelab LE multi-effects pedal that I used to use for the Clarendon Jam night. I also fancied having a go at using MainStage for live performances. Here are more instructions from Smile on how to create a Table of Contents in PDFpenPro. Go through and bookmark the rest of your documents. You’ll then want to give that bookmark a name. If it isn’t showing by default, go to View > Show Sidebar and then if necessary, go to View > Thumbnails.įor each part of the document you want to create a bookmark for, highlight the page thumbnail and go to Edit > Table Of Contents > Add Entry or hit Shift-Command-A.
To do this, you’ll want to make sure you have the sidebar showing.

There are many other ways to merge PDFs with PDFpenPro, and if you’d like you can add specific pages or merge one document into another existing document. Next, go to File > Insert… and when the window pops up, navigate to the folder that contains the PDFs you want to merge. Start up PDFpenPro and go to File > New > Blank Document. If you’re a Windows user, you can do something similar in Nitro Pro. I am not sure how Eddie does it (and maybe this will prompt him to share his workflow 🙂 ), but here is a way to combine PDFs in PDFpenPro on the Mac. If I have a group of PDFs I’m going to be working out of a lot, I combine them into one and make a TOC with PDFpen. This isn’t the first and won’t be the last time that the inspiration for this post came from Eddie Smith at Practically Efficient. If you are working with a bunch of PDFs, it can be a pain (and confusing) to try to keep track of them all.
